If socialist communist Zohran Mamdani becomes New York City’s mayor, it will trigger another unintended loss for Democrats; wealthy and influential Jews, whom Mamdani’s overt antisemitism is forcing to re-think their support of liberal media and woke universities. It’s all part of a Great Awakening that’s already cost Harvard the support of Bill Ackman and Alan Dershowitz. Don’t underestimate this because the institutional left have been America’s information guardians for the last 50 years.
This “great awakening” means Columbia and CBS get dragged, kicking and screaming, into the America First Century. Which means fewer woke professors indoctrinating our youth, and fewer news editors shilling for the Democrat Party. Credit President Trump: when receiving 90% negative coverage from legacy media, he hit back. And, by injecting “fake news” into the national vocabulary, he invited the Left’s recklessness. Facebook and Twitter censored conservative speech (illegal), and legacy media published “deranged” op-eds (dumb).
That over-reaction created many millions of news agnostics, who turned to new media (e.g. Joe Rogan) with longer discussions that allowed guests to explain their positions and policies. With this counterpoint, it’s not surprising Gallup’s polling steadily recorded new lows for legacy media’s credibility. Of even greater importance, Trump’s “deranged” antagonists had the conversations (recorded) and wrote the emails (on file) now being introduced as indictment-worthy evidence to grand juries.
Transforming Social Media
What began on talk radio, exploded in 2022, when Elon Musk bought Twitter. First, he reinstated conservative opinions and turned Twitter-X into the go-to broadcast medium for today’s most influential journalists. Megyn Kelley has 3.7 million followers, and Joe Rogan has 12.4 million; far more than anyone on legacy outlets. And Tucker Carlson? All he produced with his Twitter interviews were 125 million viewers for Vladimir Putin, 265 million for Donald Trump, and 428 million for Javier Millei!
Second, Musk aided and abetted today’s “conservative watchdog” cottage industry by opening the Twitter Files to four “cancelled” journalists: Lee Fang (formerly with The Intercept), Michael Shellenberger (environmental-skepticism author), Matt Taibbi (formerly with Rolling Stone), and Bari Weiss (formerly with New York Times). Their reports included the irrefutable evidence of government emails to the “Trust and Safety” team (censors) at Twitter; thereby confirming what hundreds of Woodward-and-Bernstein wannabes suspected.
Those “watchdogs” are now responsible for many of the Democrat “hot mic moments” we see on Fox News and social media. And, with millions of followers on Twitter-X, these “new” news outlets have been awarded seats in the White House press briefing room. But wait, it gets better, because op-eds about “Trump retributions” motivated Facebook owner Mark Zuckerberg to ingratiate himself with the re-elected President; $1 million for the inauguration, appointing Trump supporters to Meta’s executive board, hiring a conservative as head of global affairs, and dumping “third party” fact checkers in the US.
Then, Larry Ellison, founder of Oracle and friend to Trump, led a group of conservative investors (like Rupert Murdoch) to take over TikTok’s US operations. Consequential, because Oracle will have all-important control of the TikTok algorithm, meaning the go-to newsfeed for America’s youth will become “fair and balanced” in the near future. Transformational, because woke professors are no match for what kids are consuming 24-7 on Facebook, TikTok and Twitter-X. No joke, because the “most conservative college freshmen in 50 years” were 2024’s first-year males (source: The Common Application). That is HUGE.
Transforming Legacy Media
What began with Jeff Bezos acquiring the Washington Post, and Dr. Patrick Soon-Shiong buying the Los Angeles Times, gathered steam in August with Skydance Media acquiring Paramount Global, owner of CBS News. This means David Ellison leads the new entity; the man that settled CBS’s lawsuit with Trump. Now, he’s hired a Trump appointee as the network’s ombudsman (to monitor “bias”) and anti-woke Bari Weiss as editor-in-chief. She’s pledged to make CBS more “centrist” (rumors abound that Weiss has offered a blockbuster deal to CNN’s conservative panelist Scott Jennings).
It’s a new day for the Fourth Estate. Comcast has spun off MSNBC, depriving that mad-liberal network of NBC content and forcing it to rebrand as MS-NOW. Congress has defunded NPR and PBS. Trump has won lawsuits against ABC and CBS. The Washington Post fired columnist Karen Attiah, and Disney suspended Jimmy Kimmel, for justifying Charlie Kirk’s assassination. The courts have upheld the Trump administration’s right to control which news agencies get preferred access in the Pentagon and White House. And, my sources tell me the President supports Paramount Skydance buying Warner Bros Discovery, owner of HBO and CNN.
If you think “it’s about time,” it’s understandable, but here’s hoping the President hits the pause button on partisan cleansing. America is the cutting edge of advanced civilization, with lots of new ideas from both the left and right, and it needs a “free press” to investigate, opine and report on behalf of we the people. Especially when one political party controls the levers of power, because too many “new ideas” in Washington are bad ideas. Just saying…and what goes ‘round, comes ‘round.
The Power of the Gavel
Conservatives control both houses of Congress, the Supreme Court and the White House, so there’s lots of Deep State and Democrat “dirty laundry” being aired today, creating momentary clutter. Still, the net effect will be the loss of stature for anyone associated with the Biden-Clinton-Obama confederacy. Already, media trackers report fewer Brennan and Clapper quotes. And, even if John Bolton, James Comey, Letitia James, and Adam Schiff aren’t found guilty, they are in trouble…
…because Bolton did share classified information, Comey did lie under oath, and both James and Schiff did affix their signatures to false claims on loan documents. Depositions and trials have a way of uncovering one’s most embarrassing moments, which for these four publicity hounds will be breaking news across America. And…the whistle blowers and congressional subpoenas are just getting started.
Call it justice. Call it karma. Call it retribution. What so-called liberals have done for fifty years – censorship, lawfare, media hit pieces, you name it – is now (increasingly) in the hands of conservatives, thanks to Trump and his business buddies. And, no question, they intend to take it to the Left.
