In order for us to practice self-control, we must have a goal, which necessarily comes with things that we must say “no” to. The minute another person is choosing and managing our goals for us, we have left self-control behind.

The old Virginia Prep League allowed sophomores to play freshman football, but not juniors and seniors – and why’s that? Same reason golf pros cannot play in amateur events, 4-year-olds don’t run in the Kentucky Derby, and Ken Norton didn’t box Sugar Ray Leonard; preserve fair competition. This is just one reason why trans athletes should not compete in girls leagues. Saying “no” to bad ideas and not feeling bad about it is our right.

Ages ago, the NFL made its champion pick last in the college draft, then made big-city teams (Giants) share revenues with small-city teams (Packers). The owners created competitive balance because fans don’t go to non-competitive games or keep watching blow-outs on TV. This built today’s NFL juggernaut. The exact opposite will happen to the NCAA, if thousands of Lia Thomases compete in the women’s division. Millions of biological girls will pay the price.

Who cares why Lia Thomas wants to swim in the NCAA women’s division – or Bobby Riggs wanted to play (and beat) #1-ranked Margaret Court in 1973 – if (real) girls lose college scholarships? And, once girls see a sport or league as unfair, their participation will dwindle; thereby denying many women the self-esteem that comes from winning. If the Thomas ego-lifting quest hurts even one woman’s self-esteem, the NCAA is wrong.

Thomas could press for trans-only or coed divisions, because this isn’t black men being forced to play in the negro leagues. This is about Lia Thomas not taking “no” for an answer – like most of her generation, who think 330 million Americans should care about their discomfit and “like” them on social media. If you’re anti-wimp anti-woke, it’s because snowflakes are flooding into the workforce, with mixed results.

Woke employees influenced Disney’s CEO right out of his job. Snowflakes pressure DAs to coddle arrestees (who sin again). Our now woke military has 25% fewer enlistees. Snowflakes have made the New York Times barely readable. Woke professors have turned US History into the study of white sins. In the process, the Green New Deal Generation (can’t define “woman”) has erased the legacy of the Greatest Generation (defeated fascism).

Baby Boomers heard “no” every day, because of what their parents learned from a depression and world war. My mother wanted me to know “the value of a dollar” and my dad explained “the price of freedom” through the lens of a veteran. Suffice it to note that old generation sought stature in the community. A new generation seeks status on line. I think we all know going to Kiwanis Club then was “more real” than going on Twitter now.

Bud Light’s Alissa Heinerscheid had the misfortune to be at Harvard when Facebook was the rage. A community that says you are “hot” or “not hot” is not the same as one that says your ideas are “right” or “wrong.” No wonder she didn’t have that second sense to run her bad idea up the ladder. No, she had a “super clear mandate” to broaden her customers’ provincial views – making here a ticking time bomb.

Blam! She’s now on “involuntary” leave. Her boss got replaced. Bud Light sales are down 21.4% (source: Nielsen IQ). Harvard sent a ticking time bomb out into the world, and they are not alone. If Stanford Law said “no” to its woke mob, Democrat mayors said “no” to Antifa arsonists, Democrat governors said “no” to Black Lives Matter looters, and Joe Biden said “no” to waves of illegal aliens, 65% would not feel America is on the wrong track (source: RCP).

America is broken. Biden can’t walk straight, Harris can’t talk right, Trump has the right to remain silent, and Gen Z won’t work. Poor whites are so beaten down, they’re now more pessimistic than poor blacks (source: Pew Research). Black leaders have given up, wanting reparations instead of better schools. US infrastructure has fallen far behind other nations. Our military is no longer high-tech (US nuclear bases still use floppy disks). These are big problems that need big leaders to solve them.

This is why 44-year-old Ron DeSantis is so attractive. Forget the war on “woke” and appreciate his legislative wins and Florida’s hot economy. Most of the GOP wants to move on from Trump. The DeSantis camp knows this, telling Politico their intel shows money and polls jumping once he announces. He’s tied with Biden in four blue-leaning states Trump lost (CO, MN, NM, and VA), and leads Biden by 6 points in ABC’s latest national poll. That’s the politics.

Florida’s governor has no problem saying “no” to woke snowflakes (who need to hear it) because he is so old school. America needs a new generation of leaders – but only ones with “greatest generation” values. And what’s better than a small-town, baseball-playing, family-loving, woke-smoting veteran with degrees from Harvard and Yale, who’s now governor of the fastest-growing state in America? That’s the cure.
