I would like to see CNN evolve back to the kind of journalism that it started with, and actually have journalists, which would be unique and refreshing.

John Malone (CNN’s new majority owner)

Years from now, historians will consider the 2020 election the dead cat bounce for far-left liberalism. Since then, the USA has been trending conservative, and it’s now plain to see.

This year, HBO’s Bill Maher has captained the anti-woke trend, which was seconded by Netflix CEO Ted Sarandos. Not only has he aired non-PC comics Dave Chappelle and Ricky Gervais, he advised “woke” employees to quit if they’re offended (the full memo concludes this article).

Last week, Axios reported CNN’s new boss, Chris Licht, told his production staff to foster more non-partisan reporting and his on-air talent to either adjust their far-left reporting or work elsewhere. Insiders say Jim Acosta, Don Lemon and Brian Stelter were told to tone down their anti-GOP reporting, because Licht wants less “noise” and more “respectful interviews.”

On Tuesday, Paramount’s patriotic Maverick surpassed $322 million in domestic box office receipts to become (in just 12 days) Tom Cruise’s highest grossing film. Forbes predicts it will earn $1 billion – and why is that? Politico writes it’s because “Americans are desperate for permission to collectively feel good about our life, country and culture, without any of the attendant political baggage” (not an iota of W-O-K-E in the film – zero).

On Wednesday, we learned 61% of San Franciscans voted to oust soft-on-crime DA Chesa Boudin, and Republican-turned-Democrat billionaire Rick Caruso is leading in LA’s mayoral election. Yes, it’s still L-I-B-E-R-A-L California, but the message is clear: the crackpot progressives behind defund the police are now pariahs.

The Washington Post reported that Twitter has caved in to Elon Musk’s demands for its full “firehose” (the huge stream of data from over 500 million daily tweets). At the very least, Musk will expose the mendacity of the partisans in control of the social media giant, if he’s not able to buy it at the right price and clean up the rat’s nest.

As Florida governor Rick DeSantis likes to say, Americans are tired of this crap, they are pushing back, and smart leaders are taking note. To wit, read the Netflix CEO’s memo:

As employees, we support the principle that Netflix offers a diversity of stories. Depending on your role, you may need to work on titles you perceive to be harmful. If you’d find it hard to support our content breadth, Netflix may not be the best place for you.

Entertaining the world is a challenge because viewers have very different tastes and points of view, some of which can be provocative. Not everyone will like — or agree with — everything on our service. We support the artistic expression of the creators, program for a diversity of audiences, let viewers decide what’s appropriate for them, (and don’t) censor specific artists or voices.

We model ourselves on being a professional sports team, not a family. A family is about unconditional love. A dream team is about pushing yourself to be the best possible teammate, caring intensely about your team, and knowing that you may not be on the team forever(emphasis mine).

ALERT: the Sunday post will chart the rise and fall of “woke” anti-Americanism. Be sure to catch it!
