There were sighs of Democrat relief heard around America last night, because the Sanders’ campaign is mostly dead (suspended, but still on the ballot). However, before Democrats put those BIDEN 2020 signs in their yards, they should remember HILLARY 2016 – and consider an open and honest tele-convention that gives Governors Newsom and Cuomo a shot. I’m just not sold on Biden’s record or his mental acuity.
Rolling out Joe Biden in 2020 to take on Donald Trump is tantamount to reviving Rambler in 1976 to take on the Honda Accord (i.e dumb). Hillary Clinton and Joe Biden are sidekicks and not prime-time stars. She lacks her husband’s communication skill and he lacks Obama’s charisma. Biden is the presumptive nominee only because center-left Democrats ran away from far-left Sanders – not because he disproved “Sleepy Joe” accusations.
At least, Governor Cuomo (NY) or Governor Newsom (CA) could match President Trump’s energy and make gaffe-free speeches. Further, THE 2020 issue will be leadership in a crisis, which Biden (through no fault of his own) sat out. By the way, the case against Biden is not just what he is not. The case against Biden is the public record of his most damaging and embarrassing moments.
Presidential races are very much character debates – and Democrats have for three years accused Donald Trump of un-deserved opportunism and history of Pinocchio lies. Therefore, the Biden-Burisma-China history is a real problem, especially when candidate Biden counters with anger and profanity. Even if you think Biden-Burisma is not so bad, you cannot think Biden’s outbursts are good because he just looks guilty.
Joe Biden weakens his chances with weekly mis-statements and false claims. Here are a few recent Pinocchios from non-partisan FactCheck.org:
- Claimed President Trump called the coronavirus a “hoax”
- Accused the President of disbanding the entire NSC pandemic team
- Claimed Trump turned down a WHO offer to provide testing kits
- Alleged Trump cut CDC funding (fact: increased each year) that was cut in five Obama-Biden budgets
Mind you, Biden’s false claims are in the public record and continue to mount.
The campaign-killing problem for Biden is still to come: how will he perform in a televised debate? If the Billy Bush video didn’t affect Trump’s debate performance, don’t count on him to flop. Joe Biden couldn’t even get through a friendly interview with Jimmy Fallon on the Tonight Show:
- Could not remember how many grandchildren he has
- Called coronavirus the “conavirus”
- Forgot the name of Defense Production Act 30 seconds after citing it
- Was visibly using notes in the interview
Can you even imagine Hillary Clinton looking so feeble? Democrats like Jim Carville belittled Sanders as a modern day George McGovern: then why nominate a modern day Dan Quayle?
These disqualifications come on top of Democrat policy that was pulled too far left during the debates. Late-term abortions, federal benefits for non-citizens, confiscating guns – you gotta be kidding! Finally, shame on the DNC if it tells voters Biden is the best we have to offer. Go on YouTube and watch Cuomo or Newsom in action. I rest my case.
