The Mueller and Horowitz reports prove Washington is more divided today than it was fifty years ago (LBJ and Nixon). Back then, the CIA and FBI surveilled actual Russians and mobsters, while collegial legislators gave bipartisan support to LBJ’s Voting Rights Act and Nixon’s creation of the EPA. Right now, the Deep State is being investigated for spying and leaking to harm Republicans, and Congress is having a partisan food fight.
Vladimir Putin is probably high-fiving his KGB cronies: Democrats won’t work with Republicans in Congress, and don’t believe the 2016 election truly reflected the will of the electorate. Putin channeled his inner Nikita Khrushchev, creating a house divided – without firing a single shot – by enticing the CIA, DOJ, and FBI to abandon truth, justice and the American way – in cahoots with Democrats.
Kreating Keystone Kops
It sure looks like Vladimir Putin took the CIA, DOJ, and FBI down a rabbit hole. While he blew up adversaries in Russia and poisoned them in England, he used political avarice to weaken America’s guardians. The FBI and CIA slept while Russia hacked the Clinton campaign and leaked embarrassing emails, and were spoofed by bogus Russian intelligence (Steele dossier). If incompetence is not bad enough, political bias tempted DOJ and FBI lawyers to lie to judges in order to spy on innocent and insignificant Americans.
Half the US now rightly questions the CIA, DOJ, and FBI. FBI director Comey was loud and clear about Russia’s interference in our election, but his bureau did no forensic investigation of the DNC servers. CIA director Brennan was outraged about election meddling – and proceeded to leak the salacious Steele dossier to a reporter. For lack of integrity or competence, the CIA didn’t blow the whistle after the FBI spied on Carter Page, who was working with the agency.
The Mueller investigation found no collusion between Russia and the Trump campaign. The Horowitz investigation found political bias inside the FBI and falsified information used to obtain FISA warrants. A FISC judge (Collyer) rebuked the FBI Tuesday for submitting false information and withholding exculpatory evidence. Those are the facts, and the great danger is that Russia identified bias inside America’s deep state, fed it bogus intelligence, and mortally wounded its adversary.
The Bias Worked for One Side Alone
After long claiming competence and virtue, John Brennan, James Comey and Andrew McCabe are now admitting mere imperfection. Brennan admitted “there were mistakes made” in the FISA process but “the FBI took the lead on this.” Comey admitted he “erred” when claiming the FISA process was “thoughtful and appropriate” but he wasn’t “intimately involved.” McCabe said he’s “shocked and horrified” by the Horowitz report but blamed “the lowest level of FBI agents and supervisors.” Surprise: accountability was absent.
Former congressman Trey Gowdy (R-SC), who knows the justice system and read the reports, had this to say about the deep state after hearing Comey dismiss material bias: “How many of these ‘close’ (FBI and DOJ) calls went in favor of President Trump? When they changed the email, was it to help Trump or hurt him? When they put (out) the DNC-funded Fusion GPS research material, was that to help Trump or hurt him?”
Lindsey Graham (R-SC) smelled a rat months ago, and he’s right. Brennan leaked the Steel dossier to a Democrat Senator (Harry Reid). Comey leaked his (classified) memos to the New York Times via a friend at Columbia University. McCabe was indicted for leaking to the press and lying to the DOJ. Gowdy’s final thought: “Everything that happened was done to hurt Donald Trump. This is the same Jim Comey who thought it was nonsense that we were looking into [FISA process] and now he’s had a mea culpa.”
Our Foreign Adversaries Are Bolder than Ever
It was a bold move for the Chinese to drive onto a SEAL military base this month – and for North Korea to test longe-range missiles, and for Iran to murder liberty-seeking protestors. Heck, even Rudy Giuliani conducted his own foreign investigations. Therefore, it’s a bad time to de-fang the CIA, DOJ, and FBI, even if they brought this on themselves by colluding with Democrats – and for what? To undermine the democracy they are sworn to uphold and the republic they are sworn to defend. Shame on them and woe upon the USA.
